The idea for a techno-type band first took shape in Ambet's mind in 1996. But plans to put up a band fell through as he spent the next year travelling Asia as a classical violinist. Curiously, it was at about the same time that Mark was scouting for a band that would play ambient music -- more electronic and purely instrumental. Planet G was more into electronic funk and at the time was becoming more inactive because of the other members (particularly the Eraserheads) tight schedules. For a spell, Mark tried performing solo as The Mark-- rapping and singing while backed by a dj. Meanwhile, Ambet and Ramil's band Half Life Half Death was practically dead. (nope! they've been resurrected as of April 2000 & they also gotta website) Ambet decided to hook up with Ramil, tagging Mark along into the studio, where the trio started jamming and produced such synergy that synactix was born almost immediately. Last summer 1997, the band formally got together on Holy Wednesday to sequence some music, and jam on guitar, bass, and violin. Soon enough, everything fell into place and the Synactix Anthem was born. | ||||||
